It's been 9 days since the election.
The numbers on election night were not favorable to me, but I've remained hopeful for a better showing after the mail-in and absentee ballots are counted. The County Registrar has posted two updates since the election, one on November 6th, and another this morning. All of the candidates have received additional votes, however the ratio remains essentially the same. While the official count has yet to be posted, at this time, I believe it's relatively safe to say that I was not elected to the Kerman City Council.
For the City of Kerman, all four of the Candidates were good choices. All of the Candidates have different experience, but any and all of those experiences can do nothing but better the community. There were no bad choices on the ballot. Regardless of the outcome, the City has come out ahead with the Council members they elected.
For me, the election process was not an easy task. I know I can do the job as a member of the City Council, but the campaigning was a learning experience and took me well outside my comfort zone. I'm not one who is particularly comfortable being in the spotlight, or one who boasts in my accomplishments. Being my own salesman was at times, quite uncomfortable.
Though I was not elected to the Council, I retain my position as Vice Chair of the Kerman Planning Commission. I look forward to working with the New Council and Mayor on planning the growth of our City.
For those who supported me throughout this campaign: Thank you! Your support and kind words have meant a great deal to me. They kept me going. I especially want to thank my Wife and kids for their support. My Wife who kept the campaign going when I was out of town, and my kids who put up with it all.
Thank you!
Kevin Nehring, PLS
2014 Kerman City Council Candidate
