Meet Kevin

Kevin is a third-generation Californian with family roots in Selma, Coalinga, Bakersfield, and Modesto. He was born on a military base in California at the height of the Vietnam conflict while his father was serving in the United States Army. By the time he was four, his family returned to the Central Valley and settled in Fresno.

The oldest of three children, Kevin graduated from C. L. McLane High School in Fresno. He studied Architecture at Fresno City College, and then Land Surveying and Geomatics Engineering at California State University Fresno. In 2006, he received his license as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), practicing in the fields of Land Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, and Land Planning.

Kevin met his future Wife, Lora, in 1993 and they were married in 1996.  In 2004 they moved to Kerman to raise their family.  They have three children who have attended Sun Empire Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Kerman Middle School, Kerman High School, and now, California State University Fresno. He is active in his church, serving in the church leadership for nearly a decade.

Kevin has been active in the California Land Surveyors Association (CLSA) since 1999. He served as the President of the CLSA San Joaquin Valley Chapter, covering Madera, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare Counties from 2007 to 2014, and in 2010, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the State Association by the local Chapter. In 2019 he was elected by the Board of Directors to sit on the Executive Committee as a Member at Large, and elected to sit on the Executive Board in 2021.  He will be President of the Association in 2024.  He is also the California Land Surveyors Association Delegate to the Western Federation of Professional Surveyors which covers thirteen western States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Since moving to Kerman, Kevin has taken an active part in the growth of the City of Kerman. He was appointed to the Kerman Planning Commission in 2008 and then appointed to be Commission Vice Chair in 2012. Also in 2012 he was appointed to the Successor Agency to the City of Kerman Redevelopment Agency as an Oversight Board Member by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors. Kevin also sits on the Kerman Streetscape Development Committee.

On 18 May 2016, Kevin was appointed by the Kerman City Council to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Council member Nathan Fox, who left Kerman for a job opportunity in Washington D.C.

Most recently, on 27 January 2021, Kevin was appointed by the Kerman City Council to fill the vacancy in the District 1 seat, left by Mayor Pro Tem Gary Yep, who had been elected Mayor in the 2020 November election.

Also of note, in 2009, Kevin was appointed to the Fresno County Sheriff Citizen Advisory Committee by Sheriff Margaret Mims. In 2010, he became the Vice President and Co-Chair of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Neighborhood Watch Association.
